Cybergamer Bad Company Competition

With the worldwide anticipation for Bad Company 2 exceeding all expected levels, the Australian competitive gaming community, Cybergamer, has the worlds only Beta Comp! The response to this was overwhelming! With over 100 teams of 12 players registering their interest, Mercenaries were lucky enough to get a berth in the tournamnet

Excitement in the Ventrilo channel has been huge. With many members spending hours on hours playing the same map over and over. Not that there is anything wrong with this. The non-linear design of the game, allows for a multitude of different games within the one server.

However, this has all been in preparation for our upcoming match!! This Wednesday night sees us up against the team Gods. Two equally talented teams, the match is sure to be a cracker. With new strats to implement, new weapons, new gadgets, this form of play should be interesting to say the least.

You can read more about the match in the forums, and if you're lucky enough... someone may have a spare key for you to get on and have a pub game with us. Be warned though!! You need a rather hefty computer to enjoy the game in its full.

Stay tuned for more updates.

Bad Company 2 Hits Australia

DICE and EA have dropped their massive bombshell by launching the Bad Company 2 Beta in Australia. Backed up by the Cybergamer BC2:Beta Tournament, this game is set to be Massive.

Anticipation for this game has been high, with an array of lacklustre games passing our time, and leaving the MERC scrim team in hiatus. With this release exicting us all, it is set to be the birth of a new era.

We are set to play GODS in the first round, and with a level playing field and a whole new game to learn, hopes are high and everyone keen to get back in to the action.

More information is available in our forums on the game modes, classes, videos and weapons.

FOUR MORE YEARS

It was four years ago this week that in the jungles of 'nam, a lone player named Howl, started the clan, The Mercenaries. From there, the clan grew exponentially and it was not uncommon to see a whole server full of tags on the Vehicles server.

From there we moved to BF2, where we saw limited success, but learnt the essentials of squad work and "stratting" out maps. Many members came and went through this time, before we moved onto the next big thing.

This was Battlefield 2142 where we found our feet. Some heavy recruiting saw us get some great members, many of them who are still with us today. With Exodus taking the reigns of the COD4 team - we also saw success in this arena too.

So, as MERC's 4th birthday dawns upon us, we'd like to thank everyone that has made MERC great over the years. Without you guys making it a great clan, and social environment to be a part of, we wouldn't have stood the test of time.

As a special 4th birthday celebration, Black GI and the graphic guru that is Dogrot, we also have 20(that's right just 20) limited edition MERC mousepads for sale. These have been crafted with the six games we have taken part in over the years and will definiately bring back memories.

It is on this note too, that the Mercenaries will also be hosting our own Left4Dead2 Server also. For those of you who have it, can't wait to see you in there, and for those who don't... what are you waiting for?

So, from GI and Myself, along with all the Robe Wearers - Thanks for helping us make MERC great - and best wishes to MERC for the next four years!
